Walking in the city of Patras
Arriving at Patras you can enjoy an aromatic coffee or a juice made of fresh local fruits in the elegant cafe at the railway station.
The elegant Aghios Nikolaos
street is a pedestrian precinct lined with elegant cafes, restaurants, shops
and cinemas.
If it is too hot, you should
go to Queen Olga square where you can enjoy delicious ice-creams, snacks and
refreshments in the under the sandy trees cafes where students also hang
around.
When the night falls, the
pubs and snack bars in the pedestrian precinct on the upper part of the
Gerokostopoulou and Ifestou streets spring to life.
If you have
little children with you, the square of Ipsila Alonia with beautiful gardens,
fountains and playgrounds will be very popular with them.
Enjoy the
magnificent view that you get from the "balcony" of this huge square
from where the church of Saint Andrew, the Patraic gulf and the centre of the
town can be seen.
The pedestrian street of
Trion Navarhon is beautifully lined with sour orange trees and some of the best
restaurants in Greece are to be found on this street.
In the centre of the city
there is a big square from where all the leaders of Greece have spoken to the
people and which is "guarded" by the "lion" fountains. In
the middle of the North part of the square dominates Ziller's piece of art, the
Áñïllï Theatre.
The King George I square in the centre of the city
is also worth of visit. Two beautiful lion fountains are build on it and its
northern part is dominated by the magnificent Apollo Theatre.
